Meet the You and Eye team

Welcome to You and Eye. We treat our patients like family, and that shapes how we work, not just how we talk. Our staff works together closely, helping each other out day to day, so that what you experience in the chair is a positive one from the front desk to the exam room.

We're not trying to be a number in a system. We're a team that knows our patients, remembers your kids' names, and actually has time to talk through your questions.

Dr. Bhend leads our Dry Eye subspecialty, and Dr. Bingham continue to grow our Myopia Management and BVD programs, giving families in Rochester access to specialty care you may otherwise have to drive out of town for.

We offer family-friendly and family-owned eye care

You and Eye is a family-owned business. Dr. Bhend's husband, James, helps out too, from fabricating new desks and displays to handling accounting. Their daughter Brie can be found helping with marketing and social media.

Their boys, Carter, and Jackson, and the family dogs, Link, Zelda, and Teddy, come in occasionally as well. As a family, we're all committed to giving you and your family a friendly, high-quality eye care experience.

Meet the You and Eye optometrists

Dr. Lisa Bingham

Dr. Bingham grew up right here in Rochester, MN. She received her undergrad degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato with a BS in Human Biology. Shortly after graduating from the Indiana University School of Optometry she moved back to her roots. She has been actively practicing for 11 years right here in downtown Rochester.

In her down-time she enjoys, taking her dog Winnie on long walks and cuddling up with her kitties Charlie, Allie, and Izzy. Dr. Bingham also likes to dive into a good book whenever given the opportunity. As far as she is concerned, the only thing that makes reading and snuggles better is chocolate!

Dr. Kristy Gehling Bhend

Dr. Bhend grew up South of Rochester on a farm in Grand Meadow, MN. She graduated from the University of WI-River Falls with her Bachelor of Science in Biology with Chemistry and Animal Science minors. Her Optometry and Masters in Vision Science degrees were obtained from The Ohio State University College of Optometry. She has a strong education in both the standard research-based and medical models of optometry. Dr. Bhend takes pride in giving patients thorough eye exams and explaining the reason behind the symptoms so that her patients can understand their options and choose as a team how to manage their eye health. Her certification with the Institute for Integrative Nutrition uniquely allows her to add an extra dimension of preventative wellness and nutritional health to her patients' care. When Dr. Bhend isn't practicing optometry she enjoys spending time with her family and pups or taking a family trip to Florida!

As owner of You and Eye Family Eye Care in addition to seeing patients part-time Dr. Bhend assists with practice management and is currently working on the expansion of new services and a new space for our You and Eye family to enjoy!
